Simone Mizzotti è un giovane fotografo cremasco. I nostri passerottini ci cinguettavano di lui da un po’ di tempo e così, dopo averlo contattato, a dicembre ha deciso di rispondere a qualche nostra domanda. Si dice che il sodalizio tra te e il mondo della fotografia sia nato dopo un viaggio in Sud America; questa estate sei stato a Lima, in Perù, dove hai anche esposto una tua personale: cosa ti ha colpito maggiormente di questo continente, come fotografo e poi come persona?
Sì, la mia passione fotografica nasce appunto dopo una lunga permanenza nel continente sud americano. La prima cosa che mi ha colpito sono stati i colori che contraddistinguono quei Paesi, il colore della terra e del cielo soprattutto. I paesaggi sono completamente diversi dai nostri, molto più aperti e infiniti, ho in mente i paesaggi della Patagonia argentina, un infinito senza fine. Come persona sono stato colpito dalla forza della gente, dall’amicizia che riescono a regalarti e dalla semplicità della vita.
Molti dei tuoi scatti sono raccolti sulla strada, tra campagna e città, e in effetti il paesaggio è uno dei tuoi temi prediletti. La domanda è: perché?
Perché il paesaggio da sempre ci accompagna nella nostra vita, che sia di campagna o che sia la città, quindi mi piace indagare questi luoghi con un’ottica tutta personale, per far emergere nuovi punti d’osservazione.
Ci sono state delle opere che ti hanno mai mozzato il fiato?
Ci sono molti lavori, serie o singole immagini di vari artisti che hanno contraddistinto il mio lavoro, su tutto i lavori di Luigi Ghirri; dalle sue campagne ai suoi interni.
E a cinema come siamo messi? Qual’è stato in assoluto il film della tua giovinezza?
A cinema così e così, ma il mio film preferito è La vita degli altri. Sono sempre stato attratto da film ad alto contenuto storico, soprattutto quelli post seconda guerra mondiale.
Puoi spiegarci la tua poetica con parole spicce-spicce?
In parole spicce ricerco tutto ciò che per me appare semplice nella “normale vita quotidiana”.
Abbiamo letto del progetto “Un ultimo sguardo”, ci sembra una ficata: potremo mai vederlo esposto da qualcheparte?
Il progetto Un ultimo sguardo è tutt’ora in fase di elaborazione, è nato durante il primo anno del master di Fondazione Fotografia. Mi fa molto piacere sapere che vi abbia colpito! Ora sto continuando a scattare e capire in che direzione portare il lavoro, sicuramente sarà esposto a fine giugno con la mostra collettiva del corso.
Se non fossi diventato un fotografo cosa saresti diventato?
Bella domanda, forse un semplice magazziniere di paese.

We know your love for photography was born after a travel to South America and last summer you have been to Lima, Peru, where you also exposed some of your works: what impressed you most of this continent, as photographer and person?
Yes, my passion for photography was born just after a long stay in the South American continent. The first thing that impressed me were the colors that characterize these countries, the color of the earth and the sky above. The landscapes are completely different from ours, much more open and infinite, I remember the landscapes of Patagonia, an endless infinity. As a person, I was impressed by the strength of the people, by the friendship that they can give you and their simple life.
Most of your shots are collected on the road, between town and country, and indeed the landscape is one of your favorite themes. The question is: why?
Because the landscape is always with us, in our lives, whether in the countryside or in the city, so I like to explore these places with a very personal perspective, to bring out new points of observation.
Are there any works that took away your breath?
There are many works, series or individual images of various artists who have marked my work; all of the works of Luigi Ghirri: his countryside, his interiors.
And what about cinema? What was absolutely the movie of your youth?
So and so, but my favorite movie is The Lives of Others (of Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck). I’m always attracted by films with high historical content, especially after World War II.
Can you explain to us your poetry in very simple terms?
In simple terms I seek everything which seems to me in simple “ordinary everyday life”.
We read about the project “Un ultimo sguardo”, it seems pretty cool: will we see it exposed?
The project is still in progress, was born during the master of Fondazione Fotografia. I’m very glad to know that it like you! Now I’m continuing to shoot and understand in which direction bring the work, surely will be exposed at the end of June with the exhibition of the course.
If you were not a photographer, what would you become?
Good question, I’d probably become a provincial warehouseman.
